St. George Medical Clinic (SGMC), in partnership with the Tucker County Health Department, has started COVID-19 testing for all community essential workers and employers. An essential worker/employer is defined as any worker or employer that has face to face interaction with the general public. For further details about essential workers/employers, please contact either the Tucker County Health Department (304-478-3572), or St. George Medical Clinic (304-478-3339) for details.
SGMC will be performing the COVID testing every Tuesday starting 6/2/2020 from 8:30 am to Noon in the parking lot of the old Miner’s and Merchants Bank location in Thomas. SGMC began testing in Parsons at the Tucker County Courthouse Annex/Garage location on Wednesday, 5/27/2020. SGMC will continue testing every Wednesday at this location and every Tuesday at the Thomas location for the next 4-6 weeks, or as needed. Frequency testing (weekly) is essential in obtaining an accurate sample of the population being tested.
There is no cost to any employee or employer for the performed testing. If you have insurance, you are asked to bring a copy of your insurance card, along with your driver’s license to the test site so LabCorp can accurately bill for and account for the COVID testing. There is no co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible. If an essential worker/employer receives a bill from LabCorp for the testing for any reason, please contact SGMC so the charge can be rectified. Also, if you have no insurance, WV DHHR (Medicaid) will cover the entire cost of the test.
SGMC is attempting to take every precaution necessary for the testing. To assist with reducing contamination or spread, I-pads will be utilized for entering patient registration information, and to take pictures of your drivers’ licenses and insurance cards. SGMC requests that you bring a pen for the WVDHHR COVID test paperwork (PUI forms). These forms are trademarked and are unable to be uploaded to I-pads or other electronic devices.
The Tucker County Health Department and SGMC medical providers continue to monitor the Antibodies tests available. To date, there is no official true and accurate antibodies test available with proven 95% or greater accuracy approved by the FDA. There are several tests available for the general public; however, these tests have a large false-positive result of 50-60%. Once an approved, largely accurate antibody test becomes available, Tucker County Health Department and SGMC will bring this test to the public.
